Very cool reimagining of the Superman franchise. Recommended by Phil Reed @PAX unplugged. Haven bought this in San Diego and read it first. He passed it on to me and it was really cool.
Really not a great book. Way too much detail on the caves. You can tell the author really just wanted to write a travel diary of all the painted caves in Europe. Of the roughly 800 pages of content only 100 are worth reading. But those 100 are really exciting for hearing the final chapter of Ayla’s saga. I just wish we could’ve gotten more plot and less caves.
Both Harley and Michael Curtis seem to like this series. I found this issue at Arsenal Comics in Ventura when we stayed at Waypoint Ventura over the Christmas holidays 2025. They only had this one issue. It’s not actually a great issue, but hopefully I’ll try a sampling of other issues and find one that’s better.
Another weird time traveling Conan story by Jim Zub, kind of like the one he did last year for the Black Stone series. Mixes Conan, Kull, and that other modern adventurer character. I’m not a huge fan.
A couple people told me about this. Jeff Fitterman from the Fairfax gaming group loves the series. And a couple people recommended the TV show. It is by Kirkman, which is a high recommendation. I read this first compilation and it’s pretty good, but not as gripping as some of the other Kirkman stuff. I may come back to it when I have time.
Volume 30 through 1996. I’ve been reading this series for a big chunk of my adult life. At 3 volumes a year (estimated), that’s 10 years! In this volume, Val finds South America and the Incans, among other adventures.
