First book I read in 2026

 

Pier Rats by Bruce Greif. Such a fantastic book. A modern Tom Sawyer with middle school surfer boys in Ventura. I bought it at the Ventura tourist store and am glad I did. Most of the book is set in places I recognize from our stays at Waypoint Ventura. I hope there is a sequel but the author seems to have almost no online presence.

  Such a great series.  Turns out that as a kid I had not read the first two books in the series! A gift from Daniel Neugebauer at Essen Spiel. Fun read.  Latest issues of several series I am currently reading.  The deluxe color versions. Great stories.  Fun Kirkman adaptation of the classic.  Awesome. Recommendation from Phil Reed after PAXU dinner. In Ventura, Haven went to the comic book store and bought several floppies to keep it going, plus the Absolute Superman trade.  I love Jolly’s stories. Current storyline has Crutch running Crime Nation campaign in the back room with real thugs, plus Pete and a few other gamers. Hilarious as always. I also love the fact that the monkey is now vaping!
