Re-read on vacation in Kauai and enjoyed it again, but it wasn't quite as gripping as the first read many years ago.

Kauai Storm

Bought this on family trip to Hawaii (Kauai) in April 2026. Fantastic read. Ranger heroine Makalani learns about her Hawaiian roots, re-engages with her local family, and solves the mystery of her two missing cousins! Taught me a lot about local culture.

Dragonlance 2: Dragons of Winter Night

Pretty good. Story is a bit hard to follow at times - lots of jumping around, many characters. I didn't like how Kitiara became an evil dragonlord with no apparent explanation. I DID like the kender Tas, the dwarf Flint, the paladin Sturm - the final battle with the triumphant trapping and execution of the two blue dragons - several parts were cool. But overall a bit too complex, I feel like I need to re-read it and pay closer attention to all the characters moving about.

Dragonlance 1: Dragons of Autumn Twilight

Pretty good. Not super gripping but a good read and very D&D.

Illustrated Conan, Tower of the Elephant

Amazing art to complement the story that I have of course already read. This book was also recommended by Phil Reed at PAX unplugged. Glad I got it.

Absolute Superman

Very cool reimagining of the Superman franchise. Recommended by Phil Reed @PAX unplugged. Haven bought this in San Diego and read it first. He passed it on to me and it was really cool.

Last book in the clan of the cave bears series

Really not a great book. Way too much detail on the caves. You can tell the author really just wanted to write a travel diary of all the painted caves in Europe. Of the roughly 800 pages of content only 100 are worth reading. But those 100 are really exciting for hearing the final chapter of Ayla’s saga. I just wish we could’ve gotten more plot and less caves.
